|  |  |  |  | |  | Resources Howden strengthens Board with General Counsel Appointment22 September 2008Howden, a leading Lloyd’s broker offering a range of specialist insurances, today announced the appointment of Simon Gildener as General Counsel. Simon will also join the Board of Howden Insurance Brokers Limited, once regulatory approvals have been gained.
In a marked departure from the traditional role of General Counsel, Simon will be client facing, delivering technical expertise to Howden’s customers with a key focus on their claims and their representation to insurers.

Simon’s appointment adds a further dimension to our client proposition while strengthening the expertise and knowledge of our Board. Simon joins Howden from Robin Simon LLP, where he was a partner specialising in disputes arising from direct insurance and reinsurance contracts. His particular area of expertise is in contentious professional indemnity claims and large, complex litigation. He advised Baker & McKenzie in the defence of a multi-million pound professional negligence claim brought by McLaren Racing Limited which The Lawyer magazine cited as one of “The Cases of 2006”.
